Just when things were looking up for the team, the sports judge of the Cyprus Football Association (CFA) created a fuss at AEL.
Aristotelis Vryonidis chose to punish the team’s home ground with one match behind closed doors and another away from Limassol without fans. It was surprising that Vryonidis linked the incidents in the northern stand (where Apollon fans were) to those in the southern stand (where AEL supporters were) on November 30th.
Reports say that the Limassol team’s management is not just upset with Vryonidis but also with the police’s response. The police sent a letter that also connected the events.
The issue is now with the Appeals Court after they decided to challenge the ruling. In the past, the Appeals Court has overturned decisions made by the CFA sports judge.
